Our school started due to a need for an environment, that is an ideal place for nurturing young minds to grow and develop their mind, body and soul. Datha Karaumbiah
Founder - Chairman
Mr Datha Karaumbiah, native of Kodagu and a former International Hockey player ,graduated from Maharaja College, Mysore. He has established and headed some of India’s leading automobile companies in Karnataka namely Sagar Automobiles, Maruti Dealership from 1993-2003 which in a short span of time became one of the top dealerships in the country under his leadership as CEO of the company. In 2006 he established M/s Sireesh Automobiles, Mahindra & Mahindra dealership, in total having an experience of over 15 years in the automobile industry. In 2003 along with his wife Mrs. Ashwini Nachappa, former Olympian, decided to commit their time and resources in providing Coorg with a one-of-a-kind education and sports institution in the country. Honoring his father’s vocation as a teacher who left the Indian Army (then under British rule) to become a school teacher, fondly known as Jackie Master even today, Late Mr Karaumbiah’s service to society is immeasurable, the school has been named after him.
Ashwini Nachappa
Managing Trustee
Ashwini was the Sports Officer and PR head of Vijaya Bank with an experience of 16 years. She has been part of several non-profit organizations such as the Special Olympics, Parikrma Humanity Foundation, Mathru Foundation. She has served on many committees of Ministry of Sports , SAI- India as well as in the State Sports Departments. For her contribution she was also conferred with Honourary Doctorate from Karnataka State Women’s University.

Hails from a family of Teachers. Post graduate in Environmental Sciences with a Masters in Education is also a qualified Special Educator. Joined KALS in 2006 and has a vast teaching experience of over 24 years, in boarding schools.
Believes that the opportunity to educate the budding and aspiring young minds is a rare privilege, adhering to a huge responsibility
of providing the best all-round education preparing the students to explore their potential both within and beyond the classroom. This responsibility is taken very seriously

Being a teacher at KALS, goes beyond just teaching the curriculum. Our teachers not only impart knowledge, but they also ensure character building through multiple roles that they play in the environment.
